Engineering & Technology Manager - TV & Radio Services
Leading a small engineering & technology department for a broadcaster with much heritage in radio and TV services for the community, including local news programming, current affairs as well as international content. Responsibilities include contributing to the management team owning the strategy and budget, supporting the lead engineers in the execution of their respective teams duties, and oversee the prioritisation, planning and implementation of projects. You would join the business during the migration phase of a relocation and would be responsible for achieving business-as-usual before embarking on a series of projects, for example the implementation of a new radio audio over IP platform.
We are looking for candidates with knowledge of IT as it predominately applies to broadcasting, typically in the basic IT infrastructure building blocks, types of storage (primary and secondary), vertical integration solutions for the newsroom, production and an understanding around streaming concepts. In addition, you will have had exposure to the classic broadcast engineering fields of the central apparatus room, studio environment, contribution sources to the broadcast centre by satellite and microwave and delivery to transmitters using FM, as well as IP delivery methods and Playout (channel in a box). Demonstrable experience and skills relating to leading and managing teams, growing & developing people, strong written and verbal communications skills are an important pre-requisite.
